Twice the size of most apartments you are likely to see, this is a home that, the more time you spend here the more you fall in love. It has a calmness, a practicality and a wow that will endure.

The owners purchased the apartment from plan, drawn by the location opposite the Cricket Ground, they knew that the proximity of the Simon Langton School, The Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury City centre and the ease of accessing the local road network to get to the coast, all would make this a super place to live and a practical investment as letting the property was always part of their plan.
Over the years it has proven to be somewhere people want to rent and many choose to stay for holidays.
'We had the well-known cricketers Geraint Jones and James Treadwell live here early on, Graham Ford too one season, and they all, like others, loved it'. More recently the property has proven incredibly popular for short stays with some lovely feedback on Air B'n'B.
It is surprising to discover that the owners altered the apartment, they loved the incredible space but decided that a more open plan arrangement would benefit the feel of the penthouse, they were absolutely right.
The main living area seems to stretch out, almost forever, and you can step out onto the balcony which adds to the whole experience. One of the things we love is the sense of separation between living space and the wonderful bedrooms, it gives a degree of privacy, the benefit is that family, friends or guests staying can sleep soundly and those in the living area are less likely to disturb them.
As part of the changes, some Solar tubes were also added to increase the natural light so that all the apartment has an inviting feel as you wander around.
You would think that the open plan living area is the main selling feature but, step into the master bedroom with its en-suite shower and walk in wardrobe and space once again wows you. As a light breeze flutters the bedroom curtains and sun glints from the coffee pot sat casually on the balcony table, one of two balconies we mentioned earlier, you instantly sense how lovely it must be waking up here. Step onto the balcony itself and start a relaxed day with a newspaper and a drink as the morning sun warms you, then you'll feel life is moving at a more enjoyable pace. No wonder the property has been easy to let out over the years.
The second bedroom is equally impressive and the owners have created a third, it could easily be a study or a stunning dressing room for guests to use off that second room.
There is a communal garden, both balconies look across this to other gardens providing a lovely vista and again adding to the special nature of the home.
Canterbury is altering and improving through the years, much has changed in the City centre since the owners first moved here. Outside the city walls the apartment now has a Sainsburys Local just moments away to walk to.
The city centre has a real magic, a timeless appeal that draws people from around the world. Wandering around inside the walls you will follow where countless feet have trodden through centuries of amazing history and that history is a huge draw.
We all love the literary associations and the character of this ancient place. With UNESCO world heritage classification and vernacular architecture, it is home to the Archbishop of Canterbury and provides endless fascination as you link many a well-known figure or event to a building you pass or street you explore.
Walls of Roman origin surround the old city and Canterbury has a buzz that is inherent in any University and College centre, for this is somewhere that is about much more than past history. Future generations are educated in and around the city. The Langton School for instance has pupils working on projects hand in hand with NASA and is playing an important part in the IRIS program, the Institute for Research In Schools. Universities and colleges draw students from around the UK and overseas. Businesses thrive around the area and local hospitals provide essential services but also important careers and jobs for specialists.
Proximity to the coast and Europe means you will always hear a multitude of languages in evidence and the demure size of Canterbury means there is an intimacy to the place that again belies its city title. It has many claims to fame, obvious historic ones but did you know it is home to the oldest extant school in the world, The Kings School?
So whether you are looking for a stylish main home, somewhere to add to your portfolio as a letting opportunity or a bolt hole for visits to Canterbury and the UK, come along and while away some time here at the apartment on a viewing, you’ll understand then why we find it so special and why, for the owners, selling it is such a wrench.
