A need for change brought the last owner to this rather special home. The bungalow was on paper perhaps larger than sense suggested she should consider, it was then being sold by a family. At the time the requirement was to make a move from somewhere with stairs to a more practical bungalow. Why this one, well there were a number of very sensible reasons. Being practical she wanted to know that if for some reason she was without a car then she could sort her shopping easily. With a general store at the start of the road, a hairdressers and fish and chip shop/chinese takeaway here too then most essentials are catered for.
She had a dog and the thought of where to walk was a concern. For the out of season period there is always the beach, just a few minutes walk away. Turn right out of your front door and there are walks across the local countryside. Take a stroll along to the ‘Sound Mirrors’, quite stunning historical monuments to ingenuity and invention. Built prior to the second world war these ‘Listening Dishes’ were designed to act as an early warning system, alerting the military to sounds of aircraft from across the channel. For a change of scenery she would hop in the car and take her dog to Dungeness for a walk and little social with like minded people.
Parking for the car was a big consideration, not just for hers but for her visitors. The larger than average single garage meant that, if she wanted to, items could be stored and kept, always a dangerous temptation, certainly there’s space for a nice workbench in there.
As she was widow on her own she wanted to live somewhere that allowed her to get a sense that life was going on around her yet, having come from a home where her living space stepped straight out into the garden, she didn’t want to be removed from the rear garden. The brilliant feature of this bungalow is the extension to the rear, coming from the kitchen and making a wonderful open plan space looking across the rear garden, it meant that, unlike so many other properties she saw, there are still three full bedrooms and no compromise on how the space is used.
Wonderfully this detached home will also suit a family, spacious bedrooms will accommodate the children and with a choice of primary schools at Greatstone and Lydd plus the Marsh Academy in New Romney all ages can be catered for.
