‘We realised this was the home for us when the builders outlined their plans for the area where the site yard had been. The thought of looking out over a green sealed the decision for us and we have loved every minute of being here’ say the owners. Upon moving in they set to straight away in making this detached home something extra special. ‘We love the convenience of a modern home and with the great insulation properties it’s a cheap home to run. What we did was firstly add those little touches that made it special for us. Chrome electrical fittings look so striking and finish the look. Our big project however was the garden. We love being outdoors and just wanted to be able to utilise the space all year round.
We spared no expense and now have three different areas where we can sit and enjoy the sunshine, or cool off a little if it is too hot. There’s a perfect little spot for a morning coffee to catch the early rays. The main seating area is loved by everyone and gets so much use. To the side the ‘dining area’ as we call it is perfect to catch the evening sun and also makes for a great place to cool off from the morning rays if they get too much.
We wanted a garden that worked for us, the visiting family with our grandchildren and also for Ed our dog. We chose a high quality ‘astro turf’ as it is perfect for keeping clean but with the extra cushioned underside it’s a safe play area for the kids. Easy to clean up mess and disinfect it doesn’t need cutting so our time outside is all about maximising enjoyment and de stressing from a busy work life. Bringing colour to the garden in the way of baskets and pots gives the freedom of changing colours and textures to suit the season.
There is a garage and in that we put a separate fuse system to run the garden lighting as well as supply the garage.
When we asked them what was the best thing about living here the answers came thick and fast.
Being where we are there are very few cars, we’re part of the last few houses so you either live here, are visiting or perhaps lost. That peace is brilliant because the grand kids can be outside and on the green or play area and we don’t worry about them.
We are keen walkers and there are so many places to visit, we love heading over to Reculver to go walking, there are so many places on the doorstep really. With the improved train links to London it’s so easy to go up for a show or shopping yet we can be walking along the seafront in moments too.
With the M2 and M20 on our doorstep there really is nowhere that you can’t get to. Canterbury is always lovely to visit and take friends.
All in all we think you’ll find a very special family home here. It has worked beautifully for the current owners and whatever brings you along to look we’re sure you’ll be impressed.
