Location is everything isn't it and we are captivated with this one. We must remember, what we have here is a lovely family home; it's easy to be distracted by the view.
There's a special joy to building your own home and, even for professional builders like the owners here, it's even better when you love where you live.
Through the years we've seen many of them move regularly, a cycle of finding land, building, enjoying, moving to the next project.
This home and these owners stand out because it has been over thirty years now, a love affair with the location, something that has been so difficult to compete with; why move away from such an amazing outlook? Well, luckily for you, finally, the time is upon them.
Does this home have the best view in Wye? We’ll let you decide when you experience it. The owners feel it does and they have loved it since the day they first saw the land.
As all things do the house has evolved through the years with their changing life.
There's space that was added to create an annexe option, it’s a space for a business to be run from above the double garage. It's great to get up and have a physical/psychological experience of going to work, entering somewhere designated to be just that and to lock the door on it at night; it's a simple few steps within the house to get back to the kitchen and engage. Part of the extended space has also been used as a ground floor games room at various times and you will find your way to make use of it.
This is a home that will suit a modern family, a modern lifestyle. There's room in the main house if you want an office/study. Of course, you have a family sitting room and you can throw doors open onto the garden from here. A dining room gives you that separation for entertaining, a place to seat guests for a formal engagement.
In good modern fashion the kitchen is a ‘come together’ space providing a hub for family life, a snug, space for breakfast/dining and kitchen with island make this the focal point of each day, a room you use constantly and slip from interior to garden almost imperceptibly through the bi fold doors.
There are subtle things here too, an internal Hoover system, just plug the hose extension in and off you go, no carting a machine around the main home.
For the current owners the opportunity to manage some of their business from home has been wonderful though it’s the view from the house and the feel of connecting with it from the garden that has been the glue to bind the owners to the home they built.
With the village centre an easy walk, this can easily become a home perfect for multi generational living, it would be pretty easy to adapt.
For many, just being in Wye is a huge draw. The delightful feel of the area, being part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, having several pubs to enjoy, food, drink, local shops and takeaway/restaurants; all these combine to make a superb environment.
Let's not forget schools, great options exist and there's a farmers market that takes place here too.
Walk down to the Stour river beside which you can catch a train, you step from Wye Station platform onto one at St Pancras in around 58 minutes. Take the train into Ashford to connect with the High Speed train to do so. The Cathedral City of Canterbury is a simple drive (as are Faversham, Whitstable, Dover, Folkestone, Hythe etc) and you can take the train into Canterbury to work or for a day trip and an evening for a meal combined with a stand out show at The Marlowe Theatre.
