July seems to have arrived at remarkable speed.
Perhaps it is the heat. Perhaps it is summer doing what summer does best — pulling us outside, loosening the edges of normal routine, and making the days feel both longer and strangely quicker at the same time.
Either way, here we are, a week into the month already.
Last month’s Make Life Special Challenge was Seven Suppers Outdoors — an invitation to take a table outside, share food, enjoy the longer evenings, and embrace summer living. Not a dinner party. Not a grand occasion. Just a table outside and the people you want beside you.
And perhaps that is where this month begins.
Because the best part of eating outside is rarely just the food.
It is the conversation that carries on longer than expected.
The neighbour who stops for a chat.
The friend who stays for one more drink.
The evening that was supposed to be simple, but somehow becomes the thing you remember.
Summer has a way of reminding us that life does not always become special because we organise it perfectly. Sometimes it becomes special because we leave enough space for something to happen.
Which brings us to July’s challenge.
Leave The Door Open
Not necessarily your front door.
Leave the door open to a conversation.
To an invitation.
To a small adventure.
To the sort of moment that was not in the diary when the month began.
Your challenge this July is simple:
Say yes to one thing you might normally let pass by.
Invite someone round.
Accept the invitation.
Arrange the lunch you have been talking about for months.
Use the garden.
Open the windows.
Stay a little longer.
Be a little less busy.
Let one ordinary day become something more.

What nearly stopped you?
What happened because you said yes?
Who came through the open door?
Would that moment have happened if you had carried on as normal?
