Reflecting on 10 Years of Graham John — and the Stories That Stay With Us

Do you, like me,, in conversations with friends, find people saying the same thing:
“I wish I’d asked more about…”

More about our parents’ childhoods. More about our grandparents’ lives. More about the people who came before us — their stories, their struggles, their joys.

Those of us who grew up in an analog world are lucky, in many ways. We have photographs of our parents, grandparents, even great-grandparents — physical reminders we can hold, pass around, and connect with. In today’s digital world, where so many of our memories live on phones or in the cloud, I sometimes wonder:
What will today’s children have to hold onto?

Will they have a handwritten letter? A note slipped into a book? A printed photo? A recipe card in our handwriting? Will our stories disappear with a lost password or a broken device?

These thoughts have been sitting with me as Graham John celebrates a milestone — 10 years of working with you. A decade of helping people find not just houses, but homes. Places where memories are made and where legacies begin.

That’s why this month, I’m inviting you to join in something meaningful:

Legacy Month — a Make Life Special challenge focused on reflection, storytelling, and preserving what matters most.

The Legacy Month Challenge
Each week, focus on a simple but powerful theme:

Week 1 – Memory Lane
Revisit a photo, letter, or keepsake that holds meaning. Share the story behind it with someone — or write it down for the future.

Week 2 – Life Lessons
What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d want others to know? It could be about home, family, work, or simply how to enjoy a good cup of tea.

Week 3 – Create a Keepsake
Make something to pass on — a recipe, a playlist, a letter, or even a short video message. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be you.

Week 4 – Honour a Legacy
Celebrate someone who’s left a mark on your life. A grandparent, a mentor, a neighbour — share their story and what they taught you.

What the team here have Learned in 10 Years
At Graham John, we’ve all had the privilege of being part of people’s most meaningful transitions — moving into a first home, saying goodbye to a family house, starting a new chapter. Through it all, one thing is always clear:

It’s not just about the homes. It’s about the people. The stories. The legacies.

We know that the smallest things often mean the most — a conversation at the kitchen table, a photo on the mantelpiece, a garden that’s been lovingly tended for decades.

So as we mark ten years, we’re not just celebrating our journey — we’re honouring yours. And we hope Legacy Month gives you a moment to pause, reflect, and preserve something meaningful for the future.

Join Us
Whether you share your reflections with us, with your family, or simply keep them for yourself, we’d love for you to take part in Legacy Month.

Here’s to the next ten years — and to the stories we carry, the lessons we pass on, and the legacies we’re all creating, one day at a time.
