“Life is not complex. We are complex. Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing.” — Oscar Wilde

Sometimes the simple things in life are best and to make something by hand, to be involved, can be extremely satisfying.

Paper garlands can be simple and they can be complex, which depends upon you, the time you have and the effort you wish to invest in creating something. Taking strips of paper or card, bending the first into a ring, sticking it to keep it in shape and then sliding the next strip through, bending it to a circle, fixing it, slipping the next strip through, bending it to a circle… well you get it; making a paper chain can be easily achieved. Do you make it from coloured paper, multiple colours, decorated, do you add glitter etc etc. That’s a paper chain or garland and they’re fun to make.

Folding paper to make a concertina then cutting a shape out so that when unfurled you have a string of matching shapes is another childhood favourite.

Below we have provided some links to give you guidance and inspiration.

In this day and age it is possible to print so much at home but you don’t necessarily need to. Paper, pen, imagination and scissors can achieve wonders. Delve into the world of origami.

Whatever you do make wonderful memories and ‘Make Life Special’.
